Purpose
The purpose and objectives of the Order
Membership carries both privilege and responsibility. These are the ends toward which the Order works.
Fundamental purpose
Why the Order exists
The Grand Lodge of the Order of the Captain Experience (O.C.E.) is established as a structured social and fraternal Order dedicated to bringing responsible men and women together under shared principles of Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Integrity, Service and Excellence.
The fundamental purpose of the Order is to create an enduring community in which members can develop meaningful relationships, strengthen their personal and professional capacities, support one another, serve society, and uphold a distinctive identity founded upon responsible leadership, discipline and service.
O.C.E. seeks to develop individuals who understand that leadership is not merely a position or title, but a responsibility to provide direction, exercise sound judgment, demonstrate integrity and contribute positively to the lives of others.
The Captain represents leadership; the Compass represents direction; the Anchor represents stability; the Helm represents responsibility and control; the Ship represents collective progress; and the Sea represents the challenges, opportunities and experiences encountered throughout life's journey.

The Order does not exist merely for titles, ceremonies or social gatherings. Its greater purpose is the development of character, leadership, fellowship, service, opportunity and positive social impact.
Like a ship undertaking a purposeful voyage, every member has a role to play. The strength of the voyage depends upon direction, discipline, cooperation, responsibility and the commitment of everyone aboard.
